To many, January 12th is just another day. To me it will always be the anniversary of a day that opened a very important chapter in my life. This is the day I received a red velvet cupcake that asked me a simple question “Boyfriend?”. A question that I eagerly accepted.
January 12th was one of the best days I have ever encountered. No matter how many beautiful places I have been, or events I have witnessed, none compare to the beauty of that one Thursday afternoon in an old apartment in Nacogdoches, TX. Because in that moment, I felt my heart skip a beat for the first time.
Unfortunately, some fairytales don’t always end with a happily ever after. However, just because we move forward into new paths doesn’t mean we have to forget what those moments felt like. No matter how our love stories end, it’s important to remember how beautifully they started. Because it wasn’t a dream, it was reality. You lived and breathed in a moment that many search for their whole lives.
In closing, we have 364 other days in the year to find that special moment. The date that turns the page and starts a new chapter in our lives. So I challenge everyone to stop looking and to let it happen. I have no idea if I will ever have a January 12th moment again, but the beauty of life is that it happens unexpectedly, and living it once surely is enough to last me a lifetime.
